Goals are confusing. When goals are common, they are even more confusing. And a lot of times they don’t take you where you want to go.
Instead of researching about what metrics to chase, write down what do YOU really want to achieve.
Chasing the wrong metrics won’t lead you anywhere. Know what matters to you. Set your own metrics. Know why are you choosing those metrics. Make a plan, work on it and march towards it.
On Twitter — Don’t aim for the number of impressions and reach.
On Instagram — Don’t aim for x likes and y comments.
On Facebook — Don’t aim for x shares.
On YouTube — Don’t aim for x views.
Think about your end goal, know why you’re using Social Media and work towards it in the right way.
- If it’s about engagement, create engaging content and market it well.
- If it’s about lead generation, find your target audience.
- If you want to educate people, share your content and don’t look for the mass.
- If you want to be an entertainer, be a better marketer.
Don’t limit yourself to the numbers, but know which numbers to concentrate on.
