Important Good-byes And Hellos

Some good-byes are necessary and so are some hellos.

This year I made it a point to start reporting posts that sounded abusive to me and that I thought Twitter/ Instagram needs to know about my perspective about them.

I also got some reports back, reports saying these accounts were actually violating the policies of the platform and actions have been taken. Cool!

Similarly, I kept on unfollowing and muting the accounts that did not add any value to my timeline anymore. If they are talking about negative stuff, I don’t want to listen. Also, I don’t have any interest in things you might be saying (read politics).

What I did instead — I followed some accounts that have added value to my timeline, the accounts that make me smile, that spread positivity and give me a good laugh. I don’t care if they follow me or not, I just want to see good stuff.

Spring-cleaning your timeline ensures that you stay in a happy state of mind. It reduces your Social Media fatigue and keeps the negative emotions aside.

Following some accounts on Social media can cause FOMO, can evoke jealousy, can make you sad, it can make you think that you’re the only one who doesn’t have it together! But that’s not at all true. Every one is just winging it, no one really has it all together, there’s no way someone can be traveling all the time, smiling all the time and look amazing all the freaking time. Nope. And if that doesn’t make you happy, probably you should follow someone who does. #MentalHealthFirst

So you should also say some good-byes and some hellos.
