I’ve been away for few days but I’m back with my new post for The Imperfection Challenge.
This is a long post. I’d say grab a cup of tea/coffee or maybe just a cookie, because… whyyyy not?
I’ve been active on Twitter since 2010. In my early Twitter days I used to read a lot of How-To-Twitter articles and follow the tips and tricks shared by the then influential accounts.
Here are few things that I learned in my initial Twitter days:
- Follow back if you find the account interesting.
- Live tweet, schedule, tweet more. Twitter is global your followers might be awake when you’re sleeping, have some content for them.
- Follow the accounts that you find interesting.
- Don’t go behind the numbers.
- Engage, engage, engage.
- Use Twitter lists.
I took point number 2 very seriously. That’s when my hunt for the best scheduling tools began. Let me tell you that I followed this trend blindly without thinking much and had started posting one tweet every half an hour. Yes! That’s 48 tweets per day. Approximately 1440 tweets in a month. That is 201600 characters! An average book with 250 pages has approximately 400,000 characters and combining my tweets of two months would have resulted into a book!! Wait what!! What am I doing? I could’ve written a best seller! Would’ve won awards! Ah, dreams.
Anyway! In last 6 years I’ve used Hootsuite, Time.ly, Buffer, Tweetdeck and Publish.
I’ve reasons for using and then not using most of them. Of all these apps, ditching Tweetdeck was a real challenge. A friend convinced me to use Publish and that’s where my journey began.
Are you still drinking that coffee? Shall I get you something to eat? No? Okay…
If you’re me you’ll have a lot of quotes, lyrics, amazing pictures from pinterest, random funny thoughts, blog posts, videos and a lot to share! To make sure you do not dump it all on Twitter at a go you need a tool that spaces out your tweets and makes life simpler for your followers. Publish is that tool.
Its’ a part of human condition to share things.
Where to find Publish?
You need to go to Crowdfireapp.com first and you’ll find the Publish Timeline on the left menu. Or you could also use the Crowdfire app on your phone.
You can schedule your post for any time in future! You know if you schedule enough posts no one will notice your absence and you could simply take that vacation, come back and have an active Twitter account! People don’t like to follow inactive users you see.
What I love about Publish is the best time! By definition is a time calculated keeping in mind the activity of your followers. Best time makes sure that your post goes out when most of your followers are active and you get better engagement. Remember point 5? Engagement, engagement, engagement.
Let me show you in my super sonic speed, how I use Publish! Don’t be surprised, after all I’m a Pro (or maybe I know how to 4X a GIF)
If you’ve a little more time you can watch this:
Five Things I LOVE about Publish
- The ease!!
- Best time for 50 posts! (Imagine the kind of complex calculation that might go in here!!)
- Reliability (It has never failed me, almost, never)
- The Chrome Extension. Didn’t I tell you about it? May be I’ll put up the complete description in my next post.
- Auto suggestion for hashtags (the ones I’ve used in past come on the top).
I would have added people who’ve built publish in my list of things I love but well, they probably know that.
I know you’ve had enough of coffee by now… So just one last thing…
Why Schedule Posts On Twitter
- To keep your account active.
- To space out your tweets.
- To make sure you show up in the timeline of followers in different time zone.
- For a stress free life! Yes, you don’t need to be on Twitter all the time. Just set some time apart to schedule your stuff and check your interactions maybe 3 times a day!
There are things which publish doesn’t do right now but soon it’ll. So won’t talk about them. :P
I don’t want to say it is must have tool for a social media manager. I don’t want to say you are missing something in life if you aren’t using it. I don’t want to say go use it now. All I want to say is if you’re just another human on Twitter who want your TL to flow well, want to keep your account active and don’t want to overwhelm your followers with a bunch of tweets in a go, this is the tool for you.
There is a lot more I want to say, so I’ll keep it for my follow up post. Keep reading!
